Welcome
Hello and welcome to the website of the Catholic Chaplaincy at the University of Birmingham. The website is being added to all the time and you should find here all the information you need to know what's going on with Catholic Chaplaincy events at Newman House (our own dedicated Catholic Chaplaincy, just off campus) and St Francis Hall (the Multi-Faith Chaplaincy building on campus). Soon there will also be a section specifically for the Catholic Society with news of its events.

A website cannot make up for personal contact, so please do feel free to contact myself, Sr Anna (the other Catholic Chaplain) or one of the Catholic Society committee. You'll find all their details on the Contacts page. I hope that if you are a student or a member of staff at the University, we'll be seeing you soon. If you're just dropping by from out of cyberspace, then have a look around and see what we do.

God bless.

Fr Julian Green

Cathsoc
CathSoc exists to provide Catholic fellowship and support throughout your time at university. Although we are a Catholic society, we welcome everybody. Together we not only organise and enjoy our social events, but we also actively engage with our Faith, keeping the Church relevant to life in 2009.

Liturgy & Prayer
The Mass and our life of prayer at the Chaplaincy are the most important things that we do. Mass is offered daily (except Saturdays). On Sundays, Mass takes place in the Chapel at Newman House, and on weekdays in Fr Julian's room at St Francis Hall. Confession is available every day before or after Mass. Eucharistic Adoration, where the Blessed Sacrament under the form of bread is placed on the altar for us to adore the presence of Jesus there, takes place most days. There are other scheduled times of prayer too - click for more information!

Naked Faith
Naked Faith is all about uncovering the beauty of the Catholic Faith. St. Peter tells us: "Be ready to give an account of the hope that is in you." Our Naked Faith programme from week to week is designed to give you the truths of the Catholic Faith, that you may discover the beauty of the Church which Jesus Himself founded and be drawn into a closer relationship with Him and His Church, and then share that blessing with others. We meet every Monday during term time at 6.30pm in Newman House. Transport* and a hot meal cooked by Fr. Julian provided!
