Welcome

Hello and welcome to the University of Birmingham Catholic Chaplaincy.  Newman House is named for Blessed John Henry Cardinal Newman.  The website is being added to constantly, and you should find here all the information you need to know about what is going on with Catholic Chaplaincy events at Newman House (our own dedicated building, just off campus) and St Francis Hall (the Multi-Faith Chaplaincy building, on campus).

A website cannot make up for personal contact, and so please do feel free to contact Fr Peter or  Sr Anna (the Catholic Chaplains) or the Catholic Society committee.  We hope that if you are a student or a member of staff at the University we shall be seeing you soon.  If you are just dropping by from out of cyberspace, have a look around and see what we do.

Liturgy & Prayer
The Mass and our life of prayer at the Chaplaincy are the most important things that we do.  Mass is offered daily except Saturdays.  On Sundays, Mass takes place in the Chapel at Newman House, and on weekdays in the Catholic Chapel at St Francis Hall.  Confession is available every day before or after Mass.  Eucharistic Adoration, where the Blessed Sacrament under the form of bread is placed on the altar for us to adore the presence of Jesus there, takes place most days.  There are other scheduled times of prayer, too: click for more information!

CathSoc

CathSoc exists to provide Catholic fellowship and support throughout your time at university.  Although we are a Catholic society, we welcome everybody.  Together, we not only organise and enjoy social events, but also actively engage with our faith, keeping the Church relevant to life in 2012.
