Welcome

Welcome to the website of the University of Birmingham's Catholic Chaplaincy. The Chaplaincy is the presence of the Catholic Church at the University of Birmingham. This means that our primary task is to serve the students and staff of the University, by being a living Catholic Christian community where all can find life in Christs. This means that we offer to those who are already Catholic Christians the sacramental life of the Church, such as Mass and Reconciliation, as well as opportunities to deepen the personal relationship with Jesus Christ, through prayer and fellowship with others. To those who are seeking, we offer the full message of Christ found in the teaching of the Catholic Church, and the means of salvation. We seek to be the place where all people can come to meet Christ through those who believe in him.

The Catholic Chaplaincy is based at Newman House, near to the Edgbaston campus as well as in St Francis Hall, the Multi-Faith Chaplaincy next to the Guild of Students. Our two Chaplains, Fr Julian Green and Sr Anna O'Connor, are available to meet students and staff for personal guidance, as well as leading a number of the groups and Chaplaincy events. The Catholic Society is a student-led society, affiliated to the Guild of Students. It organises a whole range of events for students during each term, and encourages students to get involved in all the activities of the Catholic Chaplaincy.
